Education in the Digital Age

The 6th International Education Forum by TED explored how AI, digital transformation, and learning engineering are reshaping education. Building the future is now a shared responsibility.

Education in the Digital Age

Building the Future Is No Longer a Choice, but a Responsibility

The 6th International Education Forum, organized by the Turkish Education Association (TED), was held on May 24 at TED Ankara College’s Ata Stage. This year’s theme focused on “Learning Engineering”, exploring how the digital revolution, artificial intelligence, and data-driven algorithms are reshaping education.

Speaking at the forum, TED President Selçuk Pehlivanoğlu emphasized the urgency of managing the transformation in the digital age:

“We are now at a threshold. We will either become servants to the machines we created or we will shape human-centered systems by understanding and leading this transformation. Building the future is no longer a choice—it is a responsibility. Learning engineering is not just about integrating digital tools into education, but merging data, AI, and design-oriented approaches into a multi-dimensional understanding of learning.”

Ankara Governor Vasip Şahin highlighted the challenges of adapting information to individual development in a digitized world:

“We must go beyond consuming AI developed elsewhere and start using the AI we create ourselves. Our education system must evolve accordingly.”

Prof. Dr. Punya Mishra, Director of the Learning Engineering Institute at Arizona State University, offered this perspective:

“There’s ongoing debate over whether generative AI will replace teachers. While AI won’t become the teacher of the future, it can be a powerful creative partner in learning.”

At EdTech Türkiye, we are committed to sharing critical conversations shaping the future of learning, ensuring education keeps pace with technological and societal change.
